Local Attractions - Penneshaw & Surrounding Areas
Arriving by ferry, Penneshaw is your first port of call.
Hog Bay Jetty is where the ferry ports, and is also renowned for its great fishing. Take along your fishing tackle and try your luck at catching King George Whiting, Tommy Ruff, Salmon and many more.
Penneshaw has white sandy beaches, crystal blue waters and safe swimming, and is an ideal holiday by the sea for all the family. Make it a days outing and enjoy the beach as well as have a BBQ at the Lloyd Collins Reserve (electric BBQ’s, picinic facilities and toilets available).
Later in the evening join in with one of the conducted Penguin Tours that leave nightly from the Penguin Interpretive Centre and see the cute fairy penguins as they shelter under the bushes and rocks or as they waddle along the foreshore.
Penneshaw and the surrounding towns have many things to see and do. At the east end of Penneshaw Beach is Frenchmans Rock and the Town Well. Other places to visit while in this area would be the Penneshaw Maritime & Folk Museum (Howard Drive), Cape Willoughby Conservation Park where Lighthouse tours are conducted, Art Galleries at Penneshaw and Baudin Beach, Wineries at Penneshaw & Cape Willoughby.
Enjoy an afternoon snack or meal at one of the fine Cafes or Restaurants in the main street of Penneshaw, or take a short drive to explore the area further and visit Antechamber Bay on the Chapman River or take a stroll along the shores of Baudin Beach or Browns Beach.
