Local Attractions - Kingscote & Surrounding Areas
South Australia’s first European settlement was at Reeves Point, Kingscote on the 27th July 1836. A mulberry tree, which still bears edible fruit, was planted by the first colonists.
Kingscote is the Capital of Kangaroo Island and has a population of approximately 1,800 people.
Scattered through the main streets of Kingscote there are many food outlets, alfresco cafes, restaurants, souvenir stores, real estate agents, internet cafe, newsagencies, supermarket, banks, hotels, just about everything anyone would need while on holiday.
While in Kingscote you must see the spectacular pelican feeding, daily at 5pm.
Just a short distance from Kingscote, the prestine waters of Emu Bay glisten in the sun as you drive or take a stroll along the white sandy beach.
Take a day’s outing and visit the nearby wineries or perhaps tempt your pallet with fine local produce.
